This time it’s the New York Daily News talking about a three-team trade that would bring Lee to Portland and send Channing Frye and Marcus Camby back to the Knicks. Frank Isola characterizes Portland’s desire for Lee as “dogged pursuit.”
However, Wendell Maxey has been all over this story for days at Hoopsworld and doesn’t sound so optimistic about a deal getting done.
At a certain point, after weeks of rumors, you have to figure there must be something to the idea that Portland likes David Lee a lot. He’s a 14-point, 10-rebound a game guy who plays hard every night. What’s not to like?

We could get Lee for just Frye? Do it yesterday!
Or is there soemone else going somewhere else as part of the 3 team deal?
In a heartbeat
If the trade were Lee for The Mayor, then I’d do it in a heartbeat. NY would never go for it though. I’m not jealous of Pritchard in the least. The guy will have to trim the roster, and any cuts are bound to be painful in some respect.
This team obviously needs an upgrade in the basketball IQ department. Lee brings that and fantastic energy.
I assume this would make Joel expendable in the summer as well.
Package Oden up in that deal. Will Oden be the equvilant of Yinka Dare’ or Michael Olokawandi???
Greg Oden is a bust.
Joel should start.
Greg Oden is hurt all the time.
Greg Oden = Sam Bowie.
Channing Frye is the best player on the Blazers.
Contact Ha to get him back on our squad.
Robo bob has his head in the sand…. Does not like the truth either.
My head does not function in the sand. I only know the truth you have programmed for me. Surely the great maker could not have given me flawed info. ERROR ERROR ERROR ERROR
I think David Lee is the player Pritchard wanted all along when he sent Zach Randolph packing for Steve Frances and Channing. He liked David Lee so much he drafted Josh McRoberts. By the way, isn’t it true we’re still paying Steve Frances’ outrageous contract? The NBA can be bizarre.
The question has to be asked, who is next to go because we would still have 4 small forwards….but I guess Martell and Rudy can play as guards as well as small forwards.
David Lee would be an awesome addition, he can play up-tempo, high energy, rebound, plays help D, he would be awesome for the Blazers.
Well, you could dislike the fact that he would be a 4th starter set to split time between two positions. What player going into a contract year wouldn’t want that?
Go get Lee… He would be that missing link that will eventually lead us to a title. Keep Pryz, but look at dealing Outlaw, Bayless, Frye or Sergio to get him. One or two of those guys. Then work on signing him to a long-term deal. He is a gamer.
Even if it’s only a half season rental, I think this trade works well for Portland. Channing Frye has the best Blog of any NBA Baller, and he is so PDX, but the dude doesn’t fit into the style of play Pritch and Nate seem to be inserting. I do think that the team would be better suited perusing another veteran PG or a solid SF to supplant Martell. If the Lee deal disrupts a better deal, I’m against it. I don’t see a lot of availible PGs, so maybe this is as good as it gets.
We’d have been much better off if we’d just drafted Chris Paul instead of Martell in the first place….
