The party just won’t be as much fun without Phil Jackson

April 10th, 2009 by Dwight Jaynes | Filed under Coaches, NBA, Trail Blazers.

As you’ve no doubt heard by now, Los Angeles Lakers coach Phil Jackson won’t by making the trip to Portland tonight. It’s just not going to be the same without seeing the all-knowing old grump over there in his high chair.

They say it’s that nasty case of plantar fasciitis that’s been bugging him for a while now. It has nothing to do with a seven-game Laker losing streak in Portland. At all. Really.

Actually, I think this is one more reason for the Trail Blazers to worry about this game. I bet there are some Los Angeles players who will play their tails off tonight, just to show the organization they can do better without all the sarcastic criticism from His Arrogance.

We should be honored if this really has something to do with a scheme to try and win up here.

Kobe looked like an animal last night – wow!! If he brings that fire and intensity tonight – it will be a great test for our defense.

Glad to see the rain!! BEAT LA!! I even want Houston to keep winning – just to help insure we don’t see them in the first round. San Antonio in the five spot and us in the four would be sweet!!

I have plantar fasciitis, and I know it can really hurt, but I don’t see how that keeps you from coaching basketball. They aren’t asking him to run the point. Weird.

That’s the first thing I thought too when I heard the news. The Rose Garden has a deep and unrelenting grip on the Zen Masters psyche.

I think Phil knows what he is doing–and this is a mind game to motivate the Lakers. He called ‘em out in the LA paper the other day–I suspect there is a hidden message of “if you’re not going to bother playing well in Portland, I’m not going to bother making the trip.”

While he is an ass, they don’t call him the Zen Master for nothing.

It will be interesting to see which Laker team arrives tonight–the one which has dominated the league this year, or the one that showed up last time and got walloped by the Blazers.

Settle down now….. Bynum is back…. I wonder how Oden will do against him ?? 4 fouls by halftime.

  6. Panama says:

I have plantar fasciitis as well and doctors always recommend no air travel when the swelling is bad…

Then again he should suck it up and show his team he can coach with pain

Those pretty boys of socal crack me up

Just another cheesy and phony mind trick by Phil Jackson.

Without Phil to harness him, what’s the over/under on the number of Kobe shot attempts tonight. Kobe can’t carry a team start to finish like he used to.

No way… after his second foul, Nate will pull him for the rest of the half.

Down go the Lakers!!!! Phil or no Phil…it doesn’t matter, the Blazers still win! Kobe is such a crybaby!
