Jag, your outlook at the point is right on. Blake is a fillin starter. Some people think he's our future pg, which is just stupid(the dudes a backup). Lee would shore up what we lack at the pf position and would be worth Outlaw and Rodriguez.
Lafrentz's contract and Frye/Diogu our the pieces who can get us our point which I figure will be Hinrich. Blake has brought his scoring average up about 3pts this yr but his assists are down 2 plus a game with increased talent. Hinrich is better offensively and especially defensively.
Pritchard will upgrade the Blazers team for the present and future by the deadline. I think 2 moves will be done, most likely G Wallace, Hinrich or D Lee will be a Blazer.

This is just stupid. Stick with the group you have. Let the grow together, we're not winning any championships for a another few years, sit tight and we'll be just fine. We don't need Lee and the money it would cost..or the playing time it would bite into for our other young studs. Stupid conversation.

SO for all you ODen basher out there. I say give the guy some time. He is progressing nicely and will be a solid center in a league with very few. While he has not had theimpact of a SHaq (once in a generation), Duncan (a PF who also had David Robinson). Lets not forget he has essential played 4 months of competitive basketball in the last 2 years. Also, dont forget some big guys do take time to devleop. yao Ming 13pts/8rbs rookie year. Dwight Howard 12/10, Andrew Bynum 1/1 and all of those guys, save bynum went to teams without big time scorers so got a ton more touches. What the blazers need is a big time PG who can be a lock down perimeter defender. Blake plays the passing lanes well but can not keep fast guys in front of him. TO compete against a CP, D Will etc... we need that

In response to: Several people asked me this question: “Isn’t it time for Portland to finally do some sort of deal?”

Pritchard is fond of using the term "putting the cake in the oven and letting it bake" But what if the finished "result" is a 9th place finish in the Western Conference, is that the gourmet recipe we were expecting back in October?

At the 35 game point, KP should have enough of a "read" on his players, like who should go and who should stay. Some choices are obvious (Frye/Diogu = go) other will be more difficult (Outlaw/Sergio?)

The absense of Webster makes the decision harder, since the "logjam" at small forward has only been anticipated so far, not realized.

One thing is for certain, David Lee is not a small forward. He plays the same position as LaMarcus Aldridge. Their games would compliment each other very well, but there are not enough minutes to go around for the two of them (sound familiar?) and neither one is really a backup center, either.

The roster does need a better backup power forward, but not a young player who's worthy of big minutes, like Lee. A veteran player would be better, someone with playoff experience and a "take no prisoners" attitude would be even better. I've suggested Chris Wilcox as a short term solution (he's a UFA in June) but there may be a better option out there, on a team that is going nowhere.

Bob Whitsitt and Robo Bob are really just one person that shouldn't be taken seriously. Everyone seems to forget that Oden is coming back from the worst knee surgery an athlete can have. Look at Amare when he came back, and look at his athleticism now. Case closed.

The Vanilla Thrilla better not be traded. I'm all for adding another big in place of Frye or Ike, and I'm okay with letting go of Outlaw and Sergio...but we better get a legit PG and a rebounding thug PF in return.

Bob,

you do nothing than to prove our points for us. I have never said Oden is Shaq. I am not on the far extreme that he is a bust. You see Bob, I take the common sense approach of taking all factors into an equation and not your chicken little the sky is falling. I have even said Joel is a great player. But Bob, really, if you know so much why are you not still in the NBA as a GM. Your name sake blew up the blazers with bad chemistry experiments. Ironic how you know want to blow up the blazers by making a bad move. Bob, how come you don't hammer on Brandon, he has missed a lot of games in his career, he is hurt a lot, how come you don't judge him by the same standard as Oden? Why are you not clamoring for Rudy to start? Brandon went number 7 in the draft I believe, projected even higher at one time. Why are you unable to at least say I will give Oden a year? Why will you not acknowledge points I and others have made about his improvement and his total for double doubles this year. He has more than LA.
Bob I guess while your Laker Troll Flames where humorous for awhile, I find them almost sad now. I am more than willing to discuss ideas but really I guess when you don't even acknowledge small truths it is hard to take you serious, you don't have to agree but Bob there is this thing called Common Ground that you can't seem to find.
It is your opinion, it is a free country.....well for now anyway. Bob I wish you the best as well as Robo Bob (whom I think had mad his/her point and can stop now).

Bob work is not fun it is work. I don't have to work on things that you make so easy.
