Is it just me or are do the Celtics seem a little jostled? Not just by losing three of four out west but by the idea that the Blazers pushed them around and beat them at their own game.

Thanks for the great commentary and calling it like you see it Dwight.

The Celtics whine and intimidate the refs and get away with murder out there. The Blazers rarely benefit from any referee assistance, I don't know if it is Nate's stoic demeanor, or that we're young and have to earn respect, or if we are cursed with refs. I remember back in the day even small market teams like Utah and present day Spurs got and get plenty of zebra help.

I remember when the Blazers played in Boston earlier this year. Every little touch or non-touch was whistled and given continuation -3pt opportunity, especially the fast break dunks when our guys were trying to GET OUT OF THE WAY. Perkins got to use all 10 of his alloted fouls that game too. It's a double standard, Lamarcus and Outlaw had monster dunks where Celtics were draped all over them like cheap suits and no whistle.

If you ask me, if you set the tone physically, the refs play right along most nights as long as you sustain that intensity the whole entire game. That's why guys like Matt Harpring, Derek Fisher and Bruce Bowen chop and clutch and grab like an MMA fighter and the refs just get used to it after a while.

I don't see anything in the NBA rule book about this specific issue, but I am betting the '09-'10 book will have a paragraph or two now. The play was not correctible by the refs. That is, the basket was scored before the 6th-man was discovered by the refs. Unless the league wants to implement booth replays or a limited number of "challenges" from coaches, these plays cannot be reviewed and corrected as they are in sports like football. So the play stands. I admired the refs for saying "It was our error, we didn't notice." One of them could have just as easily said, "I caught it just before the basket," and no one would have argued. But all three copped to not seeing it. I've seen a lot of strange plays, but this one's right up there.

I have never seen a championship team whine so hard since the showtime laker era. The celtics got punked by us fair and square. They should be concerned cause on this west coast trip they were outhustled and outmuscled

I was wondering why the needle on my sarcasm meter was pegged so hard. Thanks Dwight! Good stuff indeed, as always.

If I were Doc, I'd be more worried that Stephon "clubhouse cancer" Marbury may be joining the team. Should be interesting how that affects they're chemistry...especially with Rondo's emergence in '08.

If I remember correctly, the blazers got called for eight more fouls than the Celtics did that game. Also, Paul Pierce got away with an obvious travel that Oden did not get away with late in the game. In addition to that, does anyone remember early in the third quarter when Sergio fouled Tony Allen at the top of the key? The Celtics were not in the penalty and Allen was dribbling and not in a shooting motion and he got free throws. Rice & Barrett complained about that one (rightfully so)because the blazers got screwed. Those refs sucked for both teams. If the Celtics would have played like champs that night, nobody would hear a peep from them about that call. They need to get over it.
