Sam Cassell to Portland?
Over at ESPN, Chad Ford is saying that the Boston Celtics and Sacramento Kings are involved in talks that would send Cassell to the Kings for a draft pick and some cash. And nobody thinks the Kings want Cassell.
Could the Kings be acquiring him for the Trail Blazers? Cassell hasn’t played in a game all season and fancies himself a veteran leader who someday will be an NBA head coach. He’s created a unique niche for himself in that role. Could the Blazers, who reportedly also have an interest in the Kings’ John Salmons, be looking to bring Cassell in to mentor their point guards? Or just to provide some locker room savvy prior to the playoffs?
It’s an intriguing thought.

Does the Rose Garden have a parking space big enough for him to park his UFO?
Matt,
I needed that this morning LMAO!
I`m underwelmed by this deal
Matt… I lost a bet because of you… I speculated it would take at least five comments before the first reference of that nature and you jumped right out of the box with one! Nice going,
– Dwight
If his days in Milwaukee are any indication, Sam is as interested in mentoring as Brett Favre and probably should have retired about the same time. Sam is all about getting his chucks in- he’d be exactly the last person you’d want influencing Bayless, JailBlazer antics excluded.
While I’m happy that Chad found a way to fill another deadline, the only need Sam fills for the Blazers is cap balancing.
I want Salmons. Bad.
Cassell? Why Cassell? Not that guy!
It’s definitely part of a bigger deal (Sacramento WANTS draft picks and money, not aging vets with big contracts)… But with the Blazers? Dunno, maaaaaaan. Sounds like somebody else is gonna steal Salmons…
It really speaks to the decline of his game that he’s now more famous for looking like an alien than his clutch shooting.
Aren’t trade rumors almost always false?
Trade rumors much like 510 campaign promises usually are false.
O d dear god no,no no no no no no~
Sure, just point Sam and his walker in the right direction and away he goes.
