Wendell Maxey does good work, whether it’s in season or out, and his latest piece takes a look back at the tragic car accident involving Blazer rookie Ramon Ramos. Read about it on his blog and then click through to the full piece on Hoopsworld, which is a part of his “NBA Flashback” series.
For a lot of new fans, it’s an unknown piece of Trail Blazer history. And Wendell’s right — it would be pretty cool to bring Ramon back to Portland during this season’s 40th anniversary celebration.

I never did access full article, looked like it would take some time. I did get to blog. but still not sure how Ramon is ow. Eggers interview wtih him was several years ago now.
dwight,
how is ramon now? i remember the news breaking about his car accident. what a fine promising young man and a pretty good baller too. how sad is it that such a young promising career and a good mans life was so tragicly turned upside down in the blink of an eye. i personally would love to see ramon included in any aniversary celebrations. would love to see him and see how he is doing. such a good kid….
stop trying to bring everyone back jaynes!
The community showed itself to be compassionate in the way people treated Ramon and his folks. Including him would show that Blazer fans are less shallow than some postings here would suggest.
Interesting, though, that people seem to be much less interested in Ramon’s life-and-death struggle than they are in Ramsay’s pants.
