Please, Blazer fans, take a deep breath
If you live in Portland, you can just feel the Rudymania building. By the time training camp opens, the aroused citizens are going to be convinced this guy is a Spanish combination of Brad Pitt and Michael Jordan. If Nate McMillan doesn’t give him plenty of minutes, they’ll be storming the Rose Quarter with flaming torches.
It’s not going to be a great situation for his coach, who may figure the guy needs a little work on his defense. But Rudy is going to get out there on the floor and dunk on someone or make a couple of threes in a row and the fans will go nuts. Or Rudy, accustomed to being treated as a star in Europe, could bristle at a lesser role here and pout. I mean, how many minutes can Rudy expect to play? Ultimately, he really does play the same position as Brandon Roy.
I’m just sayin’ . . . this is going to be fun to watch.
Good luck, Nate.

That’s really something to be concerned about. Not only because Roy owns the starting SG spot, but there’s also Bayless who’s a combo guard. And 48 minutes for 3 quality players just isn’t enough. For the SF spot, there’s Outlaw taking up big minutes. Limited playing time would be no problem for a rookie, but Rudy is not an ordinary rookie. He has been playing pro ball in Europe for many years and he’s the superstar in his team back there. And he played the biggest game of his life in the gold medal game in this year’s Olympics. The worst scenario is he’d dump the NBA and go back to Europe if he’s not satisfied with his role in the NBA.
