One thing you may not have considered about Darius Miles signing with Memphis
I know, many people are making a lot of the fact that Darius must first serve his 10-game suspension, then impress the Grizzlies enough over two games to get signed for the rest of the season in order to play that 10 games he needs to play to get his salary back on Portland’s cap.
But the HUGE favor the Grizzlies are doing for Miles is to get that 10-game suspension out of the way. Don’t you see? Even if he doesn’t sign with Memphis after that, the suspension is over. The next team that signs him can just throw him right out on the floor and see what happens. He might play for two or three more teams before the season is over if the Grizzlies don’t keep him.
A couple of 10-day contracts here and there and the 10 games on the court is taken care of. I’m not saying it’s going to happen. I’m just saying what Memphis did really made it much more possible.
