Mike Golub is no longer with the Trail Blazers (or Vulcan)

And he hasn’t been in a while. Mike was named the team’s Chief Operating Officer in 2007 and in that role set the stage for a lot of the good things the team is doing right now. Almost immediately he became very popular with staff and Portlanders and was innovative and personable. He was promoted to a position as senior adviser to Vulcan Sports and Entertainment last July but has left that position.

He’s still in Portland — where I hope he stays – and working now as a consultant, which I am sure he is very good at. We miss him at the Rose Garden and wish him luck in his future endeavors.

We’ve lost two great Mikes recently — Mike Scanlon, who operated the Rose Garden for Global Spectrum, and Mike Golub.

yeah so why did he get fired?

There was a rumor going around a few weeks ago that he was being tapped for a position with the MLS Timbers. Not sure if there is any truth to that.

Dwight, thanks for the update. I’m sure Mike will land on his feet, with his background.
I had the pleasure of been able to sit directly behind him for several Blazer games over the last couple of years, and he was GREAT with the fans, and very open to questions about the inter workings of the league.
He would be the perfect fit if Mr. Allen ever decided that he was ready to bring an NHL team to Portland.

    Funny guy, very funny…

I used to work with Mike when he was at the NBA. He had to be the BEST, and I mean BEST, boss anyone could ever have! I’ve been trying to re-connect with him for a while, now, just looking to chat about my short, but great, stint there. Anyone know how I can get a hold of him?
