Is Phil Jackson a little upset his girlfriend won’t be running the Lakers?

December 21st, 2009 by Dwight Jaynes | Filed under Coaches, NBA.

Roland Lazenby is a smart guy who can give you a real good picture of the inner workings of the Lakers. And he wrote this fascinating piece on Hoops Hype about the power struggle going on inside the Buss family for control of the Lakers. The story details how, in the end, a family feud may cause Jackson to leave the Lakers.

It’s a fun read.

    Yes please!

Sounds like Jerry Buss’ son is a total DB. In other words, a perfect fit for the city of LA.

Man, there are few things in the world of basketball that give me the level of satisfaction I get when seeing Phil Jackson NOT get his way. If this does blow up in L.A., we’ll be able to see the fireworks from Portland.

As a Blazers fan, I love hearing about turmoil in Laker land, although it does sound like Jeannie is getting a raw deal. She and Phil should try to pry the Clippers away from Sterling and give Jim a run for his money.

I don’t know why some have it in for Phil Jackson. He is obviously the best coach in the League. Yeah he is pompous, but so what. If we had him here we would call him very self assured.

    • Kirk says:

The guy has 10 NBA Championships. He has a pretty good excuse to be pompous.

And I don’t care what any Blazer fan says. I like Phil Jackson. He’s great sound and has a great perspective for the game. Kobe Bryant and Michael Jordan owe him everything.

But I hope the Blazers stomp the crap out of his teams every time they play.

I wish we had a coach like Phil Jackson. I’m from Chicago and saw how he was able to coach such players as Dennis Rodman. Said the game is 80% “mental”…used to hand out books for his players to read. Brought in the triangle offense and EVEN THOUGH HIS STAR PLAYER DIDN’T LIKE IT…he said…you know what…and eventually MJ…AND Kobe have flurished with this style of play.

I’m surprised to not have seen any “Fire Nate Hire Phil” comments yet in this thread. :)

    Fire Nate! Hire Phil!

Phil leaving LA for Pdx would be AWESOME! :P
