Don’t think times have changed for the Blazers?
Have you read enough about Brandon Roy’s 52 points? OK, maybe not, but it seems to me between the audio and video highlights, the online stuff and all the newspaper stories, it’s been plenty. But let me say that when Damon Stoudamire scored the team-record 54 points against New Orleans, there was barely a ripple. Nobody cared much for the Blazers at that time and probably there were a lot of people who didn’t care much for Damon, either.
As a matter of fact, if you asked 100 Trail Blazer fans who holds the team scoring record of 54, I doubt very many of them would even have told you it was Stoudamire. But they won’t soon forget Brandon’s 52, that’s for sure.
I said it at the start of the season, between the economy being down (people are looking for something positive to take their mind off their problems) and all the television exposure the team gets these days, if Portland gets a little playoff run together, Blazermania will exceed anything we’ve ever seen in this town.

you know that pride in a job done well?, thats the feeling i have for this young man.His statements on all things blazers reminds me of what my elders said to me when i was young.”do things the right way , think of the other fella, working hard is the only way to reach your potential, and dont let your emotions get the best of you. unlike myself , i think he listened
It’s also worth noting that Damon’s 54 came in a loss, to a NOLA team that was had a record of 5-30, in which Mighty Mouse’s only other stats of note were 1 assist and 1 steal. Tough to get too excited about that.
If anything Damon’s 54 was further indication of everything that people hated about those Trail Blazers teams: a me-first, all about the individual ethos.
I agree with C-Ho, I always worry about winning and not my stats.
Damon was and is a thug, and BRoy is actually a good guy. That is why!
Roy is a special player in great part because he believes in himself. We have seen him time after time want the ball at the end, andoften with good results. We have come to believe in him. We now believe he can carry this franchise to greatness
I like Damon. He was a hometown boy and that counts for something. However, I never believed that he could carry the team to a championship…
I believe Roy can, and I sense the media does as well
