Doc Rivers on Darius Miles

October 21st, 2008 by Dwight Jaynes | Filed under NBA, Trail Blazers.

Not everyone thinks Darius is a jerk. This from Boston Coach Doc Rivers, via the Boston Herald, after the Celts cut Miles on Monday:

“I really just wanted to give him a shot of hooking on with someone else,” coach Doc Rivers said. “He was great, really. It’s just with the numbers I really thought he had to crack the top 10 in the rotation for us to put him on the team, and he didn’t do that, but he did a lot of good things, and he definitely can play in this league. You never know if he’ll be back here.

“Even when we let him go, he thanked us. . . . I had read and heard a lot of stuff that they said Darius was, and he was none of that here. He was really good.”

but didn’t you hear that he wouldn’t be good enough to even make your 2nd team? Because, that was true.

2yrs ago, Darius had the talent to start on any team in the league, so if he can’t make the 2nd team now, his physical skills must be gone.

Dwight, it seems like all you’re doing lately is trading shots with the guys at the Oregonian.

Everybody knows Darius Miles was a fantastic teammate, player, and a representative of the Blazers when he first got here. The guy can be great and there’s no reason to believe he wouldn’t be the same way in Boston. We already expected that praise.

It’s your blog but I still say there’s no need to waste a post just to contradict what the Oregonian is writing about Miles.
