Comcast Sportsnet, Directv battling coast to coast

January 8th, 2009 by Dwight Jaynes | Filed under Media, NBA, Trail Blazers.

Contracts between Comcast Sportsnet and Directv have expired in New England and the Bay Area and it’s prompting negotiating battles in both areas. In fact, it appears the dispute is headed for an arbitrator. While I have no confirmation on this, I have heard that may be good news for those Directv subscribers who cannot yet receive Comcast Sportsnet Northwest — and its outstanding, probably-Emmy-winning, star-studded program, “Talkin’ Ball.”

It’s possible that the Comcast Sportsnet Northwest dispute will be included in the arbitration hearing and that all the Comcast-Directv contract issues can be resolved at one time. And fairly soon. I’m hoping that, anyway. I got to get me some of that Comcast Sportsnet Northwest. Man, that “Talkin’ Ball” show — starring the wacky Jim Pasero — is the hottest thing on TV.

You’re not be sarcastic about the greatest show on Earth (also known as “Talkin’ Ball”)? My Tivo is set to that baby every single night. I mean, they are talking about ball! Ball games, ball players, ball fans, ball reporters… For any ball fans, “Talkin’ Ball” is the best source of all ball news.

  2. That Talkin’ Ball show is scintillating. What it needs, though, is more Rebecca Haarlow.

  3. Dwight says:

As God is my witness, I did not tell Lance to write that. Nor do I know him. But there you have it — proof positive that “Talkin’ Ball” is not only Portland’s newest laugh riot but informative as well!

Talkin’ ball is the greatest thing ever. I look forward to days the blazers play at home, not so that I can see my favorite team in HD, no no. Its so I can see the finest minds in Portland sports get together on comcast’s non-hd (might as well be black and white) channel :)

Another vote for some Haarlow. And for that matter more Frank Brickowski. Frank VS. Jim makes the ultimate in cringe TV.

  5. Ricky Bobby says:

Move over sliced bread, velcro shoes, and indoor plumbing Talkin Ball is where it’s at. More Haarlow less Jim = way more viewership. The Brick is a welcomed source of knowledge on the show as well.

One more from me, I absolutely love talkin ball, what a great show. I tune in after every Blazer game just to listen to your viewpoint Mr. Jaynes. I love your blog too, you’re the best (no I’m not a stalker, just a big fan)

  7. Bob Whitsitt says:

It is a good show. I could see George Pasero sitting at that table……

  8. Ben says:

pasero is hilarious, great gimmick as the man who is always wrong.

What about that Jill chick? Isn’t she The FAN chick with Comcast SportsNet?? I want to see more of her on their programming!

The show sucks. Every time I turn it on it seems like its a love fest for the beavs and a diss on the Ducks. Also, these guys don’t really know sports.

I wasn’t aware Quick was on the show. OH! (in my best Andrew Dice Clay)

    More Rebecca Haarlow, more Brick.

@Robbie G: You ever stop to think that maybe you don’t know sports?
