That’s according to Jason Quick on “Wheels at Work” today on 95.5 The Game.
Ben at Blazersedge.com twittered this a while ago:
Jason Quick on Brandon Roy, on 95.5FM: “He’s probably the most unhappy he’s been since he’s been in Portland.”
Hmmm. Who could have predicted discord on this team? It’s nitpicking, I tell you — NITPICKING!

Brandon’s pitty-party is becoming a bit tired. He has been pouting since the preseason and it’s about time for him to grow up and earn that max contract that Mr. Allen just gave him.
I think Franklin just tipped his hat: he’s a member of the Blazers organization. Why else would he subscribe to this ridiculous “Mr Allen” language?
Maybe I’m Mr. Allen himself! Bet you didn’t think of that did you….?
Yeah – Frank Allen.
LOL…
The players, coaches, and fans must handle this in the most diplomatic manner possible. Little will be accomplished by showing the bitter feelings regarding the disharmony. As much as we don’t consider Joel Przybilla as an older player, he must take a leadership role. And, if Brandon Roy wants to be a superstar, he must promote team building, not team disharmony. In Mike Schuler’s final days, the Blazers were a team of disharmony and turmoil.
I love Roy, am glad we have him, and think he’s a great player and person.
That said, if in order to be “happy” on this team, he has to be handling the ball in half court isolation sets half the game or more, then I think Roy’s going to be spending a career being “happy” with first round playoff exits.
If, on the other hand, Roy truly wants to win an NBA title, he’s going to have to learn to play a more versatile brand of basketball that puts more pressure on the opposing defense and keeps them guessing a bit as to where our attack is coming from.
Not to mention, there are easy baskets to be had for Brandon if he’s willing to get out and run with the other guys.
I agree 100%, Doug. Roy has been the star and focal point of this team since day 1, with ball in hand.
Now, regardless of the team’s direction, he finds himself without the ball… with the whole team sharing the scoring load, everyone involved. So, he’s automatically unhappy.
He’s really starting to get on my nerves.
Don’t forget, BRoy went public with his ‘displeasure’ about the state of his negotiations during the contract extention talks. He seems to be getting a bit too comfortable with the bitching lately IMO.
My wife was very surprised about how outspoken Brandon Roy was about his displeasure. At a fan meet-and-greet event, Roy was very cordial to her and our two grandsons who came along. She did not expect so much of public sheer unhappiness to be shown by him.
He needs to learn to move
without the ball. He’s so used
I wasn’t done.
He is so used to having the ball
that he has no idea how to play
off a screen.
Total agreement!
I’m not surprised that Roy is unhappy. Yes, the team has won a couple in a row, but since he wasn’t the hero or a focal point of the offense it doesn’t matter.
To be honest, Miller and Roy just don’t fit. Obviously. I don’t like Miller as a long-term piece for this team. But, we do need to upgrade Blake.
If nothing else, I hope Roy’s displeasure ends up turning into a Miller + Outlaw for Kirk Hinrich deal.
I would favor a Kirk Hinrich deal, too. What worries me about that materializing, is will it make Brandon Roy believe that showing his displeasure can and will get teammates jettisoned? If this helps the team and reduces the minutes crunch, then it may be a good move. In terms of personnel, I love your idea. I just don’t want something than can cause resentment within the team, with friends and fans of Outlaw thinking that Roy got him ousted from Portland. Me, my wife, three children, and five grandchildren have been lifelong season ticket holders for the Blazers, even back to the Memorial Coliseum days and the championship season.
Roy is here for the duration, regardless. Since Miller’s a bad fit AND Roy is unhappy with him, just make the move to get the right player.
I don’t think the issue is one of whether or not we make Roy feel empowered that he “forced” a trade. The issue is what is best for the team, and that’s not having Roy and Miller in the same starting 5.
I don’t disagree with you that Miller and BRoy don’t ‘fit’. When KP made the panic move to sign Miller, I was very vocal in my concern with the move. Most Blazer ‘fans’ still disagree that Miller is a bad fit but by now it should be obvious that KP compounded the mistakes with RLEC and the Hedo disaster with the move to sign Andre.
All that being said, for the good of the team, BRoy needs to stop pouting and simply play ball. He’s being paid a massive amount of dough to lead this team to victories.
“To be honest, Miller and Roy just don’t fit.”
Really? How many games have these guys started together? How many minutes have they played together?
And what happens if Hinrich and Roy don’t work out their differences in 10 games after the trade? Time to trade Hinrich and Oden for Rajon Rondo?
I mean, let’s get real.
In my opinion the poor ‘fit’ really has nothing to do with basketball and everything to do with the fact that BRoy simply doesn’t seem to like him for whatever reason. Brandon seems to have ZERO respect for Miller on a personal level and he’s really made no effort to conceal it.
My son has a hunch, which may or may not have much merit: He wonders if Brandon Roy might have some sort of jealousy of Andre Miller. Often, that’s why one doesn’t seem to like another: jealousy. Maybe, he thinks some hyped up Miller and pushed him in the background. My son recalls that Miller got his deal done before Roy, and that may have caused a rift between them. I think that my son is reading into it too much, but at a bare minimum, Roy and Miller are not in sync on the court, and probably not off the court, either.
The Bulls have no need for Miller. They have Rose and Pargo.
My goodness the guy gets 15 million a year and plays a game for a living.
hey brandon the team just gave you 80 plus million dollars and we have won a few in a row. STFU!!!!!!!!
So all of you air chair GM’s what would you do? Do you tell your newly maxed out player to “you better get with it and be a team guy” or do you put pressure on Nate to make Brandon “happy”.
I’m not a Brandon “Mark” but you need to find a way to make him happy or the grumblings are going to turn into an all out drama.
first off, what exactly is he unhappy about? Knowing that would generate possible solutions.
Obviously, we are all GUESSING at what he might be unhappy about (myself included), but we aren’t really sure.
Does he want input on player personel, minutes distribution, and playcalling decisions? Does he want us to go back to playing more “Walk the ball up, hand it to Roy, then everyone stand around?” Does he not want to ever work on playing off the ball more? He actually looked pretty good playing off the ball in the first quarter against the Spurs – there were a couple of times where he caught a pass from Miller at the elbow after curling off a downscreen. That’s a much easier place for him to operate from that 10 feet behind the 3 point line with a defender on him.
Also, I am not media conspiracy guy but I always find it odd that these stories come out when things slow down after the initial rush of the season. It must be a coincidence of course.
YOU PEOPLE ARE CHAOTIC! ….. It’s a true mob mentality with you people.
Jason Quick, one that lacks any true values, says Brandon is unhappy… FROM TAPED FOOTAGE. Nothing from Brandon’s mouth.
Isn’t this the same Jason Quick that offended Andre Miller? Or Greg Oden? Or pissed off Pryzbilla? That had issues with Darius/Zach?
Jason Quick CREATES controversy with this sort of crap.
This entire forum is talking about how they are surprised Brandon is unhappy… WHO SAID IT? BODY LANGUAGE?
Quit sheeping people, be leaders and think with your own mind.
Just one thing: Didn’t we all have problems with Darius Miles. No offense to any of his fans, but I can’t say it any better than Darius Miles was a putz.
Just so you know he is regarded as one of the best beat writers in the nation. Dwight can attest.
THANK YOU!
Can Terry Porter still suit up?
TP hasn’t lost his shooting touch, at all… His legs, on the other hand…
Hire him as Coach!
The Blazers really shouldn’t have given B-Roy a 5 year max. Maybe a 2 year max or a 5 year 65 million or something like that.
Starting to look like Z-Bo all over again!
I wouldn’t go that far.
I think that Z-Bo was ok enough, but was more of a follower than leader, and got corrupted by the poor atmosphere around him. Were he surrounded by better leaders, I think that Z-Bo would have been better overall.
People forget where this team is the deepest…and I’m really surprised Dwight doesn’t point it out more. It’s the two!
It’s not Rudy we need to move Dwight! It’s Roy! We could get much more for him and the loss we’d take at the two would be minimal. When I was a kid we called players like Roy a ball hogging baby!
Right On!!!
I wrote earlier today that Roy should come off the bench and Fernandez should start, but I like the idea of trading Roy even better.
He’s obviously only a good team player when the team is all about him. He IS a ball-hog and can’t handle playing without dominating the ball. As far as I’m concerned he should be dealt ASAP before his value plummets. If they’d pulled the trigger earlier with Zach Randolph and Rasheed Wallace they’d have gotten something good in return.
The real hidden value of getting rid of Roy would be that Greg Oden might finally develop a little bit of offensive game. I believe Roy has had a VERY LOT to do with Oden’s struggles to this point. Andre Miller could feed Oden in the right spots, at the right times, to allow him a little bit of success and confidence that might just snowball into something real good.
And, trading Roy would allow Fernandez to play and to flourish.
Trade Roy while is value is high!!
You said it a lot better than me but you left out one thing…we have L.A. too! We don’t NEED Roy!
CP3
OMG, are you serious? We need to trade B-Roy because a beat writer sensed unhappiness and wrote about it? Really?! Please put the pitchforks down for one day, it is Veteran’s Day after all. Cheers!
Can any of you say Quick is just trying to start shit…I mean come on…Did Roy say he was unhappy or did Quick say he think Roy is unhappy….come this guy is just trying to keep his job by selling papers and his name or brand….
move on…lets talk about this is a few weeks. If it really an issue after 15-20 games then okay lets discuss it… Not 7 games come on.
fire up the “Roy and change for CP3″ rumors…
Nope… Try Miller, Bayless, Outlaw/Webster and picks for CP3.
Why so Roy can complain about playing off the ball with CP3?
+1
exactly. you don’t get Chris Paul then tell him to hand the ball to Brandon when he crosses half court.
Not to mention, you don’t get Chris Paul without Roy going back (and even that is a stretch for both teams)
please. no way NO trades Paul for that package. In fact, trading Paul without getting an all star in return is a death knell for that entire franchise. They aren’t desperate enough (and Paul hasn’t made the public case yet) to do that.
Roy, a point guard, and maybe a young prospect might be enough to make them think about doing a deal, but even that is a huge stretch. Not to mention that there is no way we would consider trading Roy either.
Note – I am NOT advocating trading Brandon, just that other people will be.
If I was the star of my team and the rest of my team was good enough for me to take the night off against Minnesota, I’d be thrilled!
That would certainly make me appreciate my teammates that much better, for sure. I wish that Roy would look at it the way you are.
I would be down with Roy for CP3 in a heartbeat. That is the perfect fit. A ton of great shooters and post players that want the ball. You would have to be the biggest Blazer homer ever to not want that trade.
This is so dumb.. Jason quick watches some video and says that BRoy is unhappy.. Are you kidding me.. Did he also watch him high fiving his teammates and laughing during the 4th quarter of the blow out?? Quick has nothing better to do then stir the pot… Roy is a class act and hasn’t said a word about being unhappy.. He is a professional and will figure this out… People need to relax… So tired of Quick and some media people grasping for stories… Then we bite and think its the truth… Come on now…
Oh, but Dwight sure is happy to get web hits out of it.
I love it when people say, “Hey — we’re only seven games in.” And then those same people want to tell you how meaningful those last two wins are. So…. do these games mean anything or not?
And as far as web hits — seriously? I don’t make enough off this blog to worry about hits. Doesn’t matter to me whether you come here or not. Seriously. And I can tell you that it doesn’t really matter to Jason whether he’s selling papers or not. Not his job to sell papers. Writers don’t really care about that. He’s just doing his job.
Would be nicer if Quick were to divulge WHY he thinks Roy is unhappy.
Maybe it’s the economy.
Yeah, I’m not concerned about Jason Quick either. Who IS Jason Quick, this Drew Brees, Mike Barnes on Karate Kid III, and Rick Carlisle lookalike, anyway?
Nothing against Jason Quick so much, but I give little value to O-Live, because of the bias that those moderators show. I barked about this on the Ducks thread a couple of days ago. Those biased moderators (for no good reason) really hack me off.
The worst “bias moderating” was in Townsquare, and believe it or not, the Womens forum. It wasn’t even so awful in the Blazers or The Zone forums.
Dwight, you should care about web hits… This blog raises your profile in the local media market while you are not in a regular newspaper gig. Captial is much more than just money, sir.
The “Hey – we’re only seven games in” crowd populates local talk radio. That is the mantra of all of the local ‘experts’.
Because 95.5 The Game is the Blazer’s flagship station, the Blazer’s (using their employee Brian Wheeler’s show and interviews with guys like Mike Barrett) have a megaphone to push their talking points. Their talking points right now are ‘everything is fine, just give it time’.
To all of you Roy haters out there…what are you thinking? I personally believe that Roy deserves the total benefit of the doubt. Three years ago the guy won the rookie of the year and singlehandedly brought most Blazer fans out of the dark ages. The last two years he has rocked the all-star game. He is our only all-star and He is a very good guy in the community. He is also our only max player. he has been groomed to be the cornerstone of the franchise and he has been asked to carry the team. The fact that we are talking about this (one sentence of a Quick quote)shows how LITTLE drama the guy brings to the team.
If anything, we should be upset with the one who put the pieces together…KP has an ego, at least as big as Roy does (if not bigger) and KP has amassed a talented team that shows how smart of a draft day GM he is. In my personal opinion KP needs to stop evaluating all of his brilliant draft day talent and go out and get us the final piece…At this point a three for one is looking good and one of those three should be Miller.
I agree with what you say but I don’t think that NBA players ever, never, ever, have room to complain. With the amount of money they make it should be sufficient to just want to win. BRoy will always be respected and loved in this town but he needs to show his appreciation for the town and just want to win. If he is unhappy then it needs to stay behind closed doors. To those of us who actually work for a meager living the public complaining makes him look childish and ungrateful.
JQuick should keep this stuff off the radio and out of print.
For what its worth–a Chris Paul for Brandon Roy trade is damn near impossible, at least not without a third team getting involved in a major way. Roy (and Aldridge for that matter) are both “poison pill” players, having signed a long-term deal prior to their rookie deal ending, and Paul is a BYC player.
Plus NO has a bunch or horrible contracts they’d try and unload–can you say Peja?
Peja Stoyonovich is a pure shooter. I’d add him to this roster any day.
He’s also old, overpaid, plays zero defense, and chokes in the playoffs.
Think of him as an old, expensive, Eastern European Travis Outlaw, and you’ll be close.
Don’t waste great trade opportunities. We passed up on a trade to get rid of and dump Clyde Drexler for Harold Miner, when we NEEDED a prime-time superstar shooting guard (and could have dumped Clyde’s $9 million balloon payment). Earlier, we turned down a trade to send Clyde and Jerome to the Knicks for Bill Cartwright and Pat Cummings (which could have given us the big men we needed).
David — I’ve had enough years with “high profile” .. besides, TV stuff on Comcast does that much better than this blog. Someone else can have the profile right now. I just like the work. Honestly, I still have enough friends willing to listen to my rants, I don’t worry about how many come here. Come if you like, but if it bothers you, move on! Life’s too short to suffer irritation willingly!
Just fire Nate and trade Blake and either Outlaw or Webster. That will solve a bunch of issues. And give Rudy more playing time!
y’all need to get a life. Seriously. Why can’t anybody give this team time to gel? Why does it have to be exactly right immediately? I’m tired as hell of hearing about how the sky be fallin’ in Portland. How much of this crap is coming from the players? None. Don’t be sheeple, be people. Think for yourselves, don’t let the media tell you what to think.
I like Quick’s writing and reporting, but he needs to stay off the radio. I’m tired of him playing pop psychologist. His subjective opinions of other people’s happiness annoys me.
BRoy and LMA will not bring a championship to this town, whats more Blake or GO won`t do it
wow, really contributing to the conversation here Glenn…
My point Doug is that he needs some cheese and crackers with his wining!
Wow, nice little community you have here Dwight. I can’t believe the amount of negativity here… wonder where that comes from?
Rationality
roy needs to learn to play without the ball in his hands, the team will be better for it…really needs to take a page from Rudy (well last years Rudy)
I blame Rudy.
I blame George Bush.
I blame Doug.
ouch!
Sorry Doug. I still heart you
The fact this has this thread so up in arms is a bit telling. Roy has been acting a bit too entitled to ownership of the team of late. His ROYal highness has been working a nerve with more than a few of us with some of his act this season. Maybe he should take a look within and look around and realize he opinion matters no more no less than any other of his teammates. I think however some of us are swallowing this whole thing down hook, line and sinker a little too easily. I mean c’mon. Quick’s “imagining” of Roy’s happiness or un-happiness has no weight. What’s more it has no context, bearing or significance. I mean I imagine Quick imagines all sorts of imaginary thoughts about all manner of things. So what?
How can anyone be unhappy doing something they love and getting paid millions to do it? I love BRoy and think he is one of the greatest if not the greatest player to ever play in Portland. BUT GIVE ME A FREAKIN BREAK!!!! There are many people who would work their A** off to be in his shoes and would be happy with whatever creates a winning team. Live one day in the life of a working American and then talk about being “un-happy” Hearing about players being un-happy just makes them look like a bunch of babies…”Waahh I’m unhappy cause I get paid millions of dollars playing basketball.” Don’t get me wrong, these guys are good and they deserve the money, all’s I’m saying is don’t complain about ticky tack stuff. Just play ball.
If Quick’s statements prove to hold water I would like to say the following:
There are many arguments being thrown around, “We won 54 games with the ball in Roy’s hands” “If it’s not broken, don’t fix it”.
To that I would counter, “The biggest enemy of the BEST is the GOOD”. Sure, we won 54 games with the ball in Roy’s hands playing isolation sets. We were a good team, we were not the best team. Therefore it could logically be argued that there is room for improvement over last years squad.
It seems that the personal sacrifice that Roy himself said would be mandatory of everyone if this team is to thrive does not include Roy himself. He has the nerve to be unhappy even though the team is now winning and FINALLY starting to utilize it’s collective length and athleticism.
The “easy” buckets that everyone has talked about the last three years are now becoming a reality and NOW Roy has a problem? You got your contract Roy, you are set. Why not make this about “team” success and less about your role? Are you that insecure? Everyone was having a good time Sunday , the offense is less predictable, you may even extend your career by a year or two by taking less of a beating.
I hope this is much ado about nothing. I HOPE.
It’s hillarious that there are still people who are drinking the “We won 54 games” cool-aid.
The fact is, Portland got bounced in the playoffs by a Houston team that really wasn’t that great. The Lakers handled them and Denver would have done the same too.
Roy’s been spoiled the past two seasons where everything was tailor-fitted to him. That meant a whole bunch of one on ones where the only other guy that benefited from it was Blake. No one else got better as a result of it. If Roy wants the ball in his hands like Paul or Williams he better be making all-stars out of Aldridge and Oden like CP3 has done with West and Williams with Boozer. Brandon hasn’t proven he could do that and is nowhere near the passer that those two are. With that being said, he should learn how to be a real 2 guard and let Miller run the offense.
Roy wants to change the team motto from “RISE WITH US” to “RISE WITH ME”
Quick’s motto for Roy: “YOU MAKE ME RISE”
um I hear Roy is demanding a “bow before me”…and Nate obliges
Dwight loves to find every little negative thing he can true or not. What a tool.
HI
Portland needs two things: trade three or four players with talent that doesn’t get their chance due to overbooking to bring someone outstanding and already stablished, and fill with the rest. Examples of success with this philosophy are Shaq to Miami and Garnett to Boston. The second thing is, obviously, to find a better coach. McMillan is great for development of 30% of players he gets (the rest goes crazy, like Rudy), but not to attemp a title.
HI!
You are right about the obvious need to find a better coach. The new Blake Miller back court combo is stinking up the joint tonight in Memphis. No motion on offense, no energy on defense, no fast break. They may still win but not because of superior coaching; but because of superior talent. That is obvious. Even obvious to me.
Trade Brandon to a lower-echelon team where he can be the one-man-show he wants to be. Get rid of McMillan and bring in a coach who knows how to guide a running team. Get Rudy into the starting lineup and utilize the incredible remaining talent to create an exciting team that’s fun to watch. The current version of the Portland Trailblazers is BORING, and Roy is the number one bore.
I just finished watching the game tonight. Blazers won! But..Still the refs have a conspiracy according to Rice and Barrett. The refs are against us!!
Dwight, Now i know why your face is not on the front of your webpage….
Its so fricken’ ugly as im watching you on the Talking Ball Show!!
Sincerely,
the bigges LGB fan in Eugen!!!
Dwight should T-bag you with his scalp for that comment. Who cares what he looks like? Learn how to spell Eugene while your at it.
Much better second half than first. Oden was good in 3/4th. He could have even been much better if his teammates would just learn to look for him. All the jump shooters on this team. All they do is look for eachother. The number of forced shots by our small forward crew … Look for Oden! They miss him countless times flashing open across the lane with his defender pinned on his back. It is like they say tho. Any win is a good win so this was indeed a win. A good win. It would not have been a win against a good team.
brandon is unhappy because blazer fans are such idiots.
all i hear and read about is brandons feelings. what is it based on? all brandon says is that he wants to do whatever it takes to help the team improve. his humbers are down (except assissts) because he has gone out of his way to get everyone involved.
too many radio shows, blogs, podcasts, beat writers, fans trying to find topics to over analyze.
Amen brother.
This is the same as me saying “I was looking at the picture of Dwight Jaynes staring out into in the water and he seems really depressed and lonely right now. He’s really depressed and lonely because he and his wife are fighting and he’s not writing for the Oregonian.”
Jason Quick did not give us one single quote from Brandon Roy. He won’t even put this story into print…that’s how much conjecture is in it.
You know Roy. Has he ever said or done anything in his time as a Portland Trail Blazer to indicate he cares more about his stats than winning?
Sometimes the unfortunate part of human nature is we look to tear someone down who is on top…that’s what we do. Here’s a little pop psychology for you Jason Quick style…maybe we are all trying to tear down Roy, because it will make us feel better about ourselves?
This “story” is such total nonsense without context, information, and some kind of verification. Dwight, you sound just a tad too gleeful about being “right” about nitpicking, but you should at least be sure about it before claiming your victory. Also, I read this and find myself scratching my head:
I love it when people say, “Hey — we’re only seven games in.”
You know what I love? Hearing the line “I hate to break it to you, but it wasn’t good Blazer defense, it was just a bad shooting night for the other team folks” So, uh, how many games does it take before you backtrack on this one? The Blazers are now one of the best in the league in opposing team’s fg%. I guess opponents are just coincidentally always having tough shooting nights against the Blazers.
Dwight is an idiot.
The problem is definitely not Nate’s fault. Nate is coaching his ass off IMO. I do not need anyone to tell me that Brandon Roy is unhappy. His words and actions, as well as his body language all point to him being a malcontent. I think the sooner he goes the better. His attitude and willingness to through his team under the bus remind me of Terrel Owens, the great team obliterator. Roy is a cancer that needs to be cut out no matter what the short term cost. I would feel much more comfortable with the heart and grit that Bayless has shown. Play Rudy more at the 2 guard. Anything would be better than watching and Listening to Roy the offensive Black hole and terrible defender kill the team with his selfish play. His willingness to throw his teammates under the bus is disgraceful. I agree that signing him to a maxx deal was a Mistake.
Is it Nate’s fault that he has to coach player’s with this kind of ego?
Roy has to go ASAP!
It’s winter in Oregon….Everybody is unhappy. Get over it! Just
another underwhelming take by Quick. Yawn….
+1 … You all need to bulk up on your Vitamin D intake… The lack of sunshine is having it’s way with Blazers fans again this year.
Brandon Roy will turn out to be a pouty ball hog that doesn’t quite get IT. Too bad really. But the signs are all there.
What th- only one game out of first place in the division, above .500 and on a three-game winning streak?
BRANDON YOU B**TARD I NEVER LIKED YOU
TRADE MILLER
FIRE NATE
You guys are unbelievable. Way to frickin melt down in the first two weeks of the season. More accurately, way to manage your own expectations of this team’s fortunes.
Brandon has every right to question his role with the team and what’s going on with the team. The team won 54 games last year and made the playoffs for the first time in a bazillion years by putting the ball into his hands. As the team’s leader he should question whether or not it is wise to put the ball into another players hands. He knows that the team will have success when he’s in control and it has yet to be determined whether or not the team will have success without it.
Right now it is a big experiment out there. Were trying to establish low post offense as well as integrate a proven playmaker in Miller. The team is in transition and thus so is Roy.
Kobe Bryant went through similar frustrations just a few short seasons ago. He resisted at first, the notion of utlizing other teamates as a way to generate consistent scoring. Kobe struggled at first, but eventually saw by spreading the ball around it not only made the team better but also made his opportunities easier.
It seems to have worked cause now they are a team of champions.
I agree with Dwight on this big time. If Roy can remain patient with this process, not only will his opportunities be easier, but as a team we will become better and thus able to go far into the playoffs…
who knows maybe even a championship one day
Yeah, but if we tried to play the exact same way this season (walk it up, BRoy on isolations every time) do he think we’d still win 54 games? Or better? Wouldn’t other teams figure out how to defeat this 1-dimensional offense?
Don’t get me wrong…I totally respect BRoy and his talents. But I always thought it was a little strange, back in the off-season of 2007 after his rookie season, how much KP was touting him. “Brandon’s this…Brandon’s that…he’s so humble…he’s a superstar…I’m going to plaster his face on every billboard in PDX…blahblahblah.” I’ve never seen a GM blow that much smoke up a player’s a$$ before. Weird. At that point, he had shown some flashes of brilliance, but he hadn’t really earned all the accolades IMO. It was kind of as if he had reached superstardom because KP had declared it so. I think what KP was trying to do was put a new, good, face on the franchise, after all the Jailblazer crap. But I wonder if Brandon received the wrong message from all of this, prematurely, and if he NOW has to go back and relearn the team concept that he should have learned, and EARNED, back then. I dunno…just something that has stuck in the back of my mind the last few years.
dont call yourself a blazer fan and say anything negative about brandon roy
