Blazer fans: Don’t get too carried away with that win over Golden State
My goodness, that was one lousy NBA team. I know, I know — it’s old Dwight, out there on the front porch screaming at the kids and shaking his fist, imploring that they please get off his lawn.
But seriously, the Warriors were terrible. Come on, NOBODY gets outscored 20-6 on fast-break points by the Portland Trail Blazers. Nobody. All I’m saying is that if the Trail Blazers think any of the games on the upcoming road trip will be as easy as that one, they’ll be mistaken.
More defense is going to be needed. Much more. The Warriors shot 50 percent against the Trail Blazers and basically didn’t work all that hard to get great shots. It would be wise for Portland players not to fall into the trap of thinking they’re suddenly playing well. They’re really not.
Great to see Brandon Roy back on the floor, though. The guy wasn’t really ready to play a wide-open game so he just basically took control of the pace all by himself and got it to his liking. The Blazers are so much more fun to watch when he’s out there.

I don’t think you’re out of line to say that Portland didn’t play all that great. Golden State is pretty awful and if Portland was playing well like earlier in the season, this would have been a rout like the Chicago or Miami game.
But, a win is a win in the NBA, especially considering all the things that have surrounded this team in the last week or so. And for all their crumminess, the Warriors have given Portland problems in the past with that small line-up so it was good to see them overcome that. The Blazers will play better on this trip. I’d even say they have a pretty good chance of sweeping it.
golden state was terrible.
I’m still worried about the slow offensive starts the Blazers always seem to get into these days.
Golden State was bad, but they also had the lead down to single digits in the 4th quarter as well. This is a GS team missing Stephen Jackson and Monta Ellis don’t forget. They could easily win with one one or both of those guys.

I will take the win but yes there are some serious concerns on the defensive end. What does it take for the lay up lines for other teams to stop? The first quarter and a half was shoddy defense. I had to apologize to people sitting around me last night. I screamed out loud at Sergio for turning his whole body to his man who then curled for a wide open shot.
We are beating teams we should and we are coming up on a favorable stretch so hopefully the Blazers can work some things out. It is challenging to stay positive when you see professional players having to learn to play defense at this level. College would have helped many of these guys some.
The Golden State And 1 Mix Tour Warriors are one of the streakiest teams shooting I have ever seen. What got into Turiaf last night? I have never seen that guy shoot like that. He kinda looked like Samuel L Jackson in Resurrecting the Champ.
A young team who plays to the level of their opponent. ’nuff said.
