My goodness, that was a miserable performance last night. Yes, I know Kurt Rambis is a young coach — but you’d think he’d understand that when your point guard penetrates, someone else has to rotate back.
I haven’t so many players cherry picking since the last game I watched at the local YMCA.
You wonder why Portland shot 50 percent from the floor? Well, it was all those fast-break layups. That’s why — all of us — have been talking about grabbing a few more opportunity fast breaks, because it leads to easy baskets. Take away all those fast break points and it’s another 42 percent shooting night for Portland.
I have to tell you, I’ve watched Minnesota several times on League Pass but that’s one of those rare teams where you can’t really appreciate how bad they really are until you see them in person.

Any win over the Minnesota Timberwolves is great in my mind. Especially, since the Blazers got swept by them just three years ago or so. I’ve ALWAYS hated Minnesota teams, especially the Twins. I hate the name “Twins,” but hate that the Twins and Vikings have beaten up the Seahawks over the years. And, I have an unlikeable family member from Minneapolis too, so it’s all good. I hate the Minnesota Timberwolves.
First of all– good job on Talkin Ball last night, Dwight. You did a fine job moderating a really good panel. I complained last week about the guys (Terry & Frank) being company men & tight lipped. It was good to see Scott Lynn back on the air too, I hope he’s a regular because he’s got some good insight.
Secondly– absolutely the T’Wolves are horrible. However, they were a great team to try the new fastbreak system on. For as much complaining you’ve done about wanting this team to run, they finally did it. And how exciting was that!
I’m with you on your analyis of the three-guard starting lineup being ridiculous, but if that lineup is a catalyst to make this team more up-tempo in the meantime, I’m all for it.
I think Nate trying to jolt the team. Open up the game and let them run. I think its a great way to allow teammates to find eachothers comfort zone, get used to how to play with eacother, and build that overall chemistry.
I also think in basketball its easier to start quick and end slow. When the Blazers start a game by getting out and running with all their athleticism and talent, they establish their aggressiveness, which helps with the refs, and they are able to get a lot more guys involved in the chaotic nature of fastbreak. I really think its a great way to keep this season progressing and finding the guys you can trust when you need to slow it down.
Leave it to the workings of David Kahn (Minnesota GM) to make guys like Charles Barkley believe that they can do a better job as GM.
To top it off, he got rid of his all-star Mike Miller…seems to want to only draft point guards, drives the best young european player back to europe, and fills his salary cap with no name journeyman.
They have a real shot at the worst record in the NBA. Wait till the frigid temps and snow hits soon. Coach Rambis will be dreaming of those warm socal beaches…
If I was Kevin Love, I wouldn’t be signing another contract with this franchise
Hey at least there not the Grizzles.
Hey, we’re hoping for the Grizzlies, Kings, or Timberwolves to move to Seattle! [laugh] I’ll STILL root hard for the Blazers to crush them by 40 each game!
Dwight, excellent job on tv after the game.I really look forward to
your show after the game.
That game last night took me back years to when Terry Porter would throw the ball down court for the galloping Blazers.
Gosh that was a fun game. But how come Brandon doesn’t seem to get into the mix ?
I am watching TWolves on leagus pass at the mo. The night after in Golden State. Your case could not be made any better than this game Dwight. Just 0ver 7 mins left in the game. Warriors 122 Wolves 83. Wolves sure as heck can not handle a running team. Dang, this makes the Blazer win look almost weak. This also makes the case that the Blazers need to learn how to run as well as Brandon pace. Some teams are easy pickings if you just mix it up a little.
