A few other Blazer things going on you should know about

Just because it’s the off-season doesn’t mean that there isn’t a lot going on with the Trail Blazers. Over at Blazers Edge Ben and Dave are beginning their usual off-season project of evaluating each Blazer player and you ought to swing by and take a look. Sean at Oregonlive’s Blazer Blog is back with his popular “You be the GM” feature and you can find Ben’s assessment of Steve Blake and Wendell’s look at Channing Frye up there already.

Sean asked me to chip in with a look at Rudy Fernandez and I think it will appear Thursday. I’ll get the link when it’s available but I think you’ll like it — and maybe even be surprised by some of my conclusions.

Tonight, it’s the first summer edition of “Talkin’ Ball” on Comcast Sportsnet at 6 o’clock. We’ll still be at The Agency and joining us tonight, I understand, is one of our most popular guest panelists, Laura Green, fresh off covering a first-round series for TNT.

Rudy could be a super-star in this league….under a coach that utilizes him the best manner. Your comments better be close to that DJ! :)

  2. douglast says:

don’t know about superstar, but put me in the camp that says Rudy’s skills were not even close to being utilized to their potential.

The guy might be the best passer on the team, yet we almost never put him in a position to make a pass.

I’d love to see him running pick and rolls with Aldridge and Oden when Roy is on the bench.

  3. selyab says:

    Dwight,
Don’t beat up on Rudy too badly. He is already working for peanuts and might be smelling the home cooking and $$$ back in Europe.

  4. Dwight Jaynes says:

Beat up on Rudy? I think you’re going to find just the opposite… but no more hints,
    – Dwight

  5. Jack Bog says:

Sometime over the summer, just once, please have somebody on camera eat some of the food they put out in front of you.

  6. selyab says:

I would be interested in your thoughts about whether Rudy could become a point guard. He can pass and he can make them pay. Can he do the other things needed?

  7. Tree says:

Well – you tipped you hand on Talkin’ Ball – but that’s why we tune in!! I hope Portland can find enough minutes to let Rudy blossom. If we can’t – then let’s use him to help us get either the point guard or the boozer we need to take it to the next level (did I say boozer instead of bruiser? What was I thinking?)

Wow,this show was very good tonight,Dwight you did a good job !

    Rudy ! Rudy ! Rudy !

The ball must be in his hands more next year.
    He is simply too good.
